Spring Fling Recap

At long last Golden Age Home was able to Fling a party!  As you know our original April Spring Fling! was rained out with a generous blessing of much needed precipitation.

Unable to schedule any other “spring” day we opted for June 20 and an indoor party. Generous helpings of beef tenderloin and pit ham provided neat roll filled sandwiches.  Chips, dips, cheese, and dessert bars filled out the menu, along with wine and beer.

A Silent Auction dominated the dining room of the Lozano’s interesting old house (former Jones house on W. Prairie Lea).  After lively competition, 20 items in this “reduced size” auction provided income for Adventure Camp and some need “goodies” to take home.

The much awaited Wine Auction gave a long time volunteer a great surprise. After years of buying tickets and making donations to Golden Age Home, Tommy Lowe finally bought the winning ticket!  He was able to take home a 37 inch flat screen TV with all the required bells and whistles. Twenty bottles of wine were also in the auction and some of them carried notification of an additional prize. Tommy’s bottle with TV tag was “French Maid” wine. This may not be decent wine but the label was cute and fit with our original theme.

Thanks go out to all of our volunteers, sponsors, and guests. Adventure Camp for the staff members’ children will take place again this July because of support from our community.
