National Assisted Living Week 2009

“Traditions of the Heart”

In honor of Grandparents Day and to kick off National Assisted Living Week®, September 13-19, 2009, Golden Age Home Personal Care will host an open house on September 13, 2:00-4:00 p.m., for the citizens of Lockhart and the surrounding areas.

 "The Original Sinners" will provide folk music for entertainment.  "The Original Sinners" are a musical group made up of four pieces; bass, two guitars, and a mandolin. They play church and folk music.  In addition, the residents of Golden Age Home will host a craft show.  There will also be wine tasting offered by Three Dudes Winery.   

Join us for a time of fellowship and do some Christmas shopping as well.  Refreshments will be provided. Families and visitors will have the opportunity to meet the residents and staff at Golden Age Home Personal Care, learn about the services provided there and tour the facility. 

Additional events in conjunction with National Assisted Living Week include gospel music on Monday night at 5:30p.m., Clogging demonstration Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m., and a “how to do” Genealogy class Thursday at 2:00 p.m.  All events are open to the community.

  • Father's Day Celebration

    Golden Age Home Celebrated Father's Day with a Classic Car & Motorcycle Show.  Residents, family members and staff enjoyed browsing through a dozen classic cars and half a dozen motorcycles.

  • Ractivities: Restorative Activities

    Golden Age Home has instituted a program of “Ractivities.”  This program consists of providing restorative/ therapeutic activities to the residents of the 100 and 200 halls over the course of the day.  These activities are supplemental to those provided through the Activity Department. This program is operated by Restorative Aides/Certified Nurse’s Assistants (CNA) in conjunction with the Activity Department.

  • Easter Egg Hunt 

    Golden Age Home will host a community-wide Easter Egg Hunt on April 3 from 10-Noon.  Held in the garden area between the nursing facility and the assisted living building, this event will include carnival type games, crafts and group races as well as an egg hunt for ages 0-12.  Hot Dogs and chips will be served beginning at 11:00.

  • RESIDENT CHRISTMAS PARTY

    Family and friends are invited to join us on December 19, 2009, from 2-4 p.m. for our Resident Christmas Party.  There will be live entertainment and a vistor from the North Pole.  Bring your Christmas cheer and have a good time with us!

  • Adventure Camp 2009 Recap 

    Adventure Camp began on July 20, 2009, with approximately 50 children.  This is one of the largest groups since the creation of Adventure Camp in 2001.  Students enjoyed helping the Activity Department with our residents’ daily activities such as bingo, exercise and table games.
