Empowering Older Adults and Enriching Community Life Through Compassionate, Inclusive Care.

Introduction to Our Mission-Driven Sanctuary

Welcome to Golden Age Home Assisted Living, a beacon of hope and care nestled in the heart of Lockhart, Texas. Since our founding in November 1960 and our transition to a non-profit organization in 1964, we have dedicated ourselves to providing compassionate, faith-based care to seniors. Our legacy is built on a foundation of care excellence, with a commitment that extends beyond the walls of our residence to the heart of our community.

At Golden Age Home, we believe in the dignity and well-being of every resident, ranging in age from the mid-50s to over 100 years. Our home is not just a place to live but a vibrant community where seniors can thrive, supported by services and amenities that foster independence, engagement, and joy.

Our Mission

At Golden Age Home, every action and decision is infused with our commitment to nurture and offer compassionate care within a Christian setting. Our mission—a promise from our heart—ensures every resident feels connected, valued, and part of our extended family. We strive to be a support pillar, enriching lives with meaningful interactions and activities that celebrate dignity, inclusivity, and holistic well-being.

Special Programs That Make a Difference

At Golden Age Home, our commitment extends far beyond providing standard care. We are dedicated to implementing and sustaining special programs that align with our mission to support, empower, and enrich the lives of our residents and the broader community. Here are some of the key initiatives we proudly offer:

Low-Income Housing: We are dedicated to ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder anyone from receiving the care and support they deserve. Our 16 low-income housing apartments, underpinned by grants and donations, offer affordable living solutions, allowing residents to enjoy a dignified, comfortable life.

While low-income apartments are available in Caldwell County, they lack the comprehensive "wrap-around" services Golden Age Home provides, such as meals, housekeeping, lifeline emergency calls, and 24-hour staff support. Our community setting also offers social interaction opportunities, crucial for combating loneliness, isolation, and depression, alongside three balanced meals daily and medical oversight.

Respite Care: We recognize that caregivers often need temporary relief to recharge and attend to their own needs. Our Respite Care program provides short-term comprehensive support, giving caregivers the opportunity to take a break while ensuring that their loved ones receive the highest level of care. Whether it's for a few days or a few weeks, families can have peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are in capable hands.

Wellness & Independence Programs: Our holistic approach to well-being is embodied in our Wellness & Independence Programs. These initiatives are designed to promote physical, mental, and social health, fostering a vibrant, engaged, and healthy community.

Community Connections:

We're a hub for Lockhart, fostering relationships that enhance senior well-being. Our partnerships with local providers and educational institutions not only enrich our residents' lives but also cultivate the next generation of healthcare professionals committed to compassionate care.

Golden Community Partnerships: This initiative fosters monthly educational and networking opportunities, connecting us with local service providers. It ensures that seniors have comprehensive access to various resources, insights, and services specifically designed to meet their unique requirements.

Healthcare Development: We're dedicated to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals. Our collaborations with educational programs and institutions like Lockhart Independent School District and Gary Job Corps provide valuable hands-on experiences for students, preparing them to deliver compassionate care to our seniors.

Internship Opportunities: Students and aspiring healthcare professionals can gain practical experience in patient care and elder support services through our internship and shadowing programs. These initiatives instill essential skills and empathy, vital for excellence in elder care.

CNA Program Initiative: As part of a consortium, we're working to establish a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program through the Smithville Workforce Training Center. This initiative aims to bolster the pool of qualified caregivers, ensuring our seniors receive the highest quality of care.

Facilitating Comprehensive Caregiver Support: At Golden Age Home, we provide vital support for caregivers through our dedicated groups, focusing on two key areas: assistance for those caring for individuals with physical ailments and specialized support for caregivers of individuals with cognitive issues like dementia. Our aim is to offer resources, empathy, and a community of support, ensuring caregivers feel understood, valued, and equipped to manage the challenges they face.

Future Horizons: Advancing Together

Looking ahead, Golden Age Home is enthusiastic about broadening the scope of our mission-focused endeavors. We are constantly seeking innovative strategies to enhance and expand our offerings, ensuring they align with our core values of care, community, and compassion. Our forward-thinking plans encompass upgrading our current facilities to be even more accommodating for seniors and environmentally sustainable. Additionally, we are laying the groundwork for organizational growth, which includes the development of a new building. These steps are taken with a vision to enrich the lives of our residents and extend our reach within the community, reinforcing our pledge to nurture and support.
